My name is Maria Solntseva. By education, I am a teacher of foreign languages, but ever since I was a child, I was fond of drawing. In my school years I attended art school, where I studied drawing, composition, painting, history of art and sculpture. At the end of the course I passed my finals with high grades.

 

I became involved with batik more than 10 years ago. I love creating new patterns and finding the best colour combinations. I always try something different, implement emerging techniques and keep refining my skills.

 

In my work, I use high quality paints, manufactured by MARABU, Germany. They keep silk light and soft and they don’t run. With gentle care, my hand-painted articles will serve you for a long time.

 

Silk is an amazing and extraordinary material.  Although, it is very thin, light and delicate, it’s not just for summer. Silk can keep you warm when the temperatures drop and can easily be incorporated into your autumn/winter wardrobe.

 

My handmade silk shawls and scarves are unique and beautiful accessories. Hand-painted pillow cases and curtains will brighten up the interior and make your home cosier. I also paint silk wall-hangings.
